When Lenovo RapidBoot Extreme is enabled, certain functions are delayed or disabled for fastest boot time.
Functions affected during the Hardware installation phase:
  • The ThinkPad logo screen will not be displayed during BIOS POST, however the standard boot interrupt keys (such as F1) still work.
  • ThinkVantage button is disabled. Press F11 to enter Product Recovery.
  • USB functions such as external keyboard, mouse and Fingerprint Reader do not function until the OS is booted.
  • WWAN devices are not supported in this mode.
Note: While hardware passwords provide enhanced security, use of these will prevent the most optimized boot.
Functions affected during OS phase:
By default, Lenovo RapidBoot Extreme delays the availability of these functions for several seconds after the desktop appears:
  • Function keys (such as Fn+F5).
  • USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi devices.
  • Enhanced audio features.
Note: While Windows passwords provide account security, use of these will prevent the most optimized boot. However, if you set a password, Lenovo RapidBoot Extreme will not delay USB, Fingerprint, SmartCard or Networking. Any additional software installations and updates may affect this system's ability to preserve the most optimized boot.
